No French Leave in North Berwick

North Berwick is part of the European Cultural Route “In the Footsteps of Robert Louis Stevenson”. RLS is the only author with a route. He rubs shoulders with Mozart, the only composer. The Santiago De Compostela Pilgrim Route is the best known.

This year the Annual General Meeting of the route was in Scotland, and a highlight was a day in North Berwick. The picture shows the new President, Christian Brochier, leading the singing after lunch at the East Lothian Yacht Club. They had a busy programme, with walks by Dave Berry, monologues delivered by RLS set in 1887, drone videos of the Bass and Fidra lighthouses, and visits to our Museum. They also had the excitement of their first view of Treasure Island and a chance meeting with one of RLS's relatives lifting a boat from the water. He signed autographs. They were very impressed by it all and we were very relieved to have a superbly sunny day.
